As the state started relaxing restrictions on gatherings, we started planning our first in-person promotion since the start of the pandemic – Orangina’s Big Splash. The event had many facets. First off, it was held on May 16, National Mimosa Day. Why? Because mixing Orangina and Champagne results in the Frenchiest mimosa ever. But that wasn’t big enough, so we contacted Guinness World Records to see whether there was a record for the largest mimosa. Then we built a champagne flute big enough to break the record. Unfortunately, our recipe wouldn’t count for an official mimosa. That didn’t discourage us.
We brought what is easily the world’s largest champagne flute to the Oceanic in Wrightsville Beach on the big day. Guests got to help fill the flute, enjoy a delicious brunch, and sip amazing mimosas. We gave away Orangina flutes and an official Orangina mimosa kit.
For folks who weren’t ready to gather in public, we streamed the event on Instagram Live @OranginaUS and encouraged viewers to share pics of their brunch featuring Orangina. Everyone who posted was entered to win a set of Orangina flutes and a mimosa kit.
During the event and throughout May, proceeds from Orangina sales at The Oceanic went to the NCRLA- an organization uniting restaurant and lodging establishments in North Carolina. The NCRLA was a tremendous resource for hospitality businesses as they adapted their operations to keep their doors open during the pandemic.
The event was so successful, it sounds like Orangina’s Big Splash is set to be an annual event. Oh, and keep an eye out for our giant champagne flute. The plan is for it to make appearances at events throughout the year.
